Briony Kidd graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1998 with a Bachelor of Film and Television.
Briony has made numerous short films, including a documentary commissioned for SBS Independent, Learning the Ropes (2002) and a short funded by Screen Tasmania, Starring Xavier (2003). She wrote the script for the award-winning animation, Sam and Piccolo (2006), produced by Adam Walker Film.
As a freelance writer, Briony specialises in film and arts-related features, reviews and opinion pieces. Her articles have appeared in The Jakarta Post, Inside Film, Filmink, The Mercury, Good Reading, Metro, Women's Health and Fitness and Australian Stage Online.
Briony has also written for theatre. In 2006 she co-wrote and directed Gigoloed! for the Melbourne Fringe Festival, two one-act plays inspired by the work of Joe Orton.
Briony has several feature scripts in development including Salt of the Earth, a supernatural thriller set in Tasmania, and The Exclusion of Kathy Weir, the darkly funny story of a woman's struggle with gambling addiction. |
